The revival of one of Venice’s most historic hotels, the Bauer Hotel, is now underway as Mohari Hospitality and Omnam Investment Group successfully closed a €280 million financing package.

The property was confirmed to join the Rosewood Hotels & Resorts stable when it originally closed for refurbishment in 2022, with the luxury hotel group reportedly still committed to the project, under its new ownership.

Mohari and Omnam snapped up the property in November 2024, strategically restructuring its ownership under newly established investment company Bauer SICAF, which is now leading the ambitious redevelopment project.

“At Mohari, our vision is to build a portfolio of luxury hospitality destinations defined by iconic locations, heritage, and exceptional experiences. The Bauer Hotel embodies this vision perfectly,” said Mark Scheinberg, Founder and Principal of Mohari Hospitality.

“Securing this refinancing marks a pivotal moment in our journey to restore and elevate the Bauer to its rightful place among Europe’s most distinguished hotels. We are proud to partner with leading institutions and our collaborators to honor the hotel’s legacy while transforming it for future generations in the heart of Venice.”

Rosewood Hotel Bauer will feature 110 rooms, with over half of the accommodations being signature suites, and a presidential suite, according tot he Rosewood website. It will have a casual restaurant and wine bar on the ground floor and a refined Venetian restaurant and rooftop bar with a traditional Venetian Altana.

“The property will also be home to a spectacular Italian rooftop garden with breathtaking views of the city, a luxurious wellness facility, and an outdoor pool with a bar located on the eighth floor,” it said.

Bauer SICAF also now owns the adjacent Residenza Grunwald in Venice. Supported by a green loan of over €250 million from a consortium of Italian lenders, Bauer SICAF is now positioned to restore both properties to their historic prominence. The goal is to re-establish them as “symbols of excellence in Venetian hospitality.”
