Orient Express’ first sailing yacht Orient Express Corinthian has reached a crucial milestone in its construction, with the stepping of its three masts in an elaborate operation.

The vessel’s three 69-metre carbon masts were installed during several days of meticulous work by shipbuilder Chantiers de l’Atlantique.

The project involved “ultra-high-capacity cranes, dynamic guidance systems, and millimetric alignment” in order to fasten each mast into its steel base and then to hook them up to the yacht’s advanced electronic systems.

The masts are equipped with the revolutionary SolidSail system which employ a game-changing method of wind-assisted propulsion to enhance the sustainability of the luxury newcomer, while simultaneously ensuring elegance and performance.

“We are the only sailing yacht among luxury cruise ships,” Orient Express Sailing Yachts Chief Operating Officer Vianney Vautier stressed.

Guests aboard Orient Express Corinthian will enjoy tailor-made onshore experiences as well as an “extraordinary onboard atmnosphere”. The 54 suites have been designed by architect Maxime D’Angeac, Artistic Director of Orient Express with dining led by multi-Michelin-starred chef Yannick Alléno.

The restaurant and bar options include La Table De L’Orient Express and La Terrasse. There will also be a 54-foot swimming pool, dubbed Le Couloir De Nage, which offers “views of the sailboat’s mast”.

Orient Express Corinthian will also feature entertainment options onboard including a cinema, cabaret show, a library, a games room and marina for water sports.
