A major expansion of Windstar Cruises‘ French Polynesia program is underway, as the cruise line confirmed it would deploy two yachts in the region year-round starting from March 2027.

It represents the cruise line’s most extensive South Pacific commitment to date, offering travellers more ways than ever to explore the idyllic islands.

“Tahiti is part of our DNA, and we couldn’t be more excited to bring our sailing yacht back to these legendary waters,” Windstar President Christopher Prelog said.

“By offering the largest number of departures in Tahiti, we offer unparalleled flexibility and choice – whether you crave the romance of sailing under starry skies or the comfort of an all-suite yacht.”

Under the changes, classic four-masted sailing yacht Wind Star, which accommodates just 148 guests, will join Star Breeze in Tahiti to operate the seven-night Dreams of Tahiti itinerary with weekly Monday departures. The voyage includes a visit to little-visited Raiatea, the island considered the “ancestral homeland of the Māori people”.

The vessel will be recently refurbished, as it is scheduled to undergo the second phase of its refurbishment in April 2026, including updates to its staterooms and dining venues.

Meanwhile, Star Breeze, a 312-guest all-suite yacht, will focus on longer voyages to remote destinations such as the Tuamotus, Marquesas, Fiji and the Cook Islands. These can be combined into Star Collector Voyages of up to 21 days for “deeper cultural immersion and extended South Pacific exploration.”

Windstar pointed out that, with the 2027 increases, it will offer the “most Tahiti cruise departures of any line,” thanks to both ships operating full-time in the region.

Onboard cultural activities include pareo tying, Tahitian language lessons, and ukulele instruction. The immersive Polynesian experience also extends beyond the ships. Windstar’s Destination Discovery Event: Polynesian Feast + Fire invites guests to a private motu for an unforgettable night of island cuisine, live music and fire dancing.

Meanwhile, new onboard features include AquaBanas, private floating lounges at the yacht’s marina platform offering a resort-like sea experience with sunshades, tables and chairs. Guests will also enjoy “Early Goodbye” disembarkation, with ships arriving in Papeete at 8pm the night before departure day for those pressed for time.

For those ready to book, Windstar is offering an early booking promotion through 31 October 2025, which includes up to $200 in onboard credit and savings through its “All-In” package. Guests can also save an additional 5% when paying in full at the time of booking.
