LATAM appoints Chico Garcia as Oceania Country Manager

He takes on the role at an ‘exciting moment’ for the airline

Alberto Chico García will take on the role of LATAM Country Manager for Oceania, effective immediately., tasked with leading the airline’s commercial and operational initiatives across Australia and New Zealand.

The appointment reinforces the airline’s commitment to growth and customer service in the region, according to Thibaud Morand, General Manager EMEA, Asia and South Pacific at LATAM Airlines.

“We are delighted to appoint Alberto as our new Country Manager for Oceania. His strong expertise in commercial strategy, partnerships, and customer-focused growth will be instrumental as we continue to strengthen operations in the region,” he said.

With more than 12 years of experience in commercial roles within the travel and tourism sector, Chico García brings a robust background in profit and loss management, revenue growth, strategic negotiations, and market development.

Prior to joining LATAM, he served as Vertical Head, Commercial Partnerships for KAYAK in Asia Pacific, overseeing the Hotels and Cars business. He also held key roles at Amadeus, including Commercial Strategy Manager, and has built a strong track record in both revenue management and commercial finance.

My focus will be on continuing to build strong partnerships, delivering value to our customers and ensuring LATAM is the airline of choice for travellers across the region.”

Chico García’s appointment comes as LATAM expands its footprint in Oceania. Following the resumption of Sydney to Santiago services in October 2024, the airline plans to operate daily non-stop flights from Sydney beginning in November 2025.

Additionally, LATAM will expand its Melbourne–Santiago service to daily flights starting December 2025. These routes complement LATAM’s existing direct service from Auckland to Santiago, offering customers across Oceania greater flexibility and access to Latin America.
