The Kimberley’s Berkeley River Lodge – considered to be one of Australia’s most remote luxury retreats – will relaunch on 1 May 2026 after a three-year transformation.
The final phase of its extensive upgrade will see refreshed interiors, new experiences and enhanced access for guests flying in from across Australia.
“The design vision from Empire draws deeply from the surrounding land – wild, ancient, and extraordinary,” General Manager Hannah Wark said.
“Every material is selected for resilience, beauty, and longevity. From high-grade and recycled teak to leather, stone, ceramic, rattan, bamboo, and brass.”
Among the new additions is a mini bar in each villa, with the lodge also expanding its range of all-inclusive experiences in 2026.
Operations Manager Jake Oxenham highlighted a few standouts that would enhance the barefoot luxury offering of the lodge which is open for just four months of every year.
“The Dreaming signature massage is a deeply restorative treatment using a signature blend of hot stone techniques with native botanical oils,” he said. “Morning Movement Sessions give guests a peaceful poolside start to the day, as the sun rises over the Timor Sea. This includes a range of yoga, pilates, stretch sessions and breathwork.”
Food and drink remain central to the experience, with new flavours on the horizon. “We are also working with a consultant to increase our integration of native Australian ingredients,” Wark said. “We will also grow more herbs and vegetables on site, in addition to composting initiatives and re-establishing Australia’s most remote chicken pen.”
Access to the lodge is also being elevated in 2026, with guests now offered return scenic flight transfers from Darwin, offering breathtaking aerial views of the Kimberley coast as they arrive in style. This upgrade also enables same-day connectivity from Australia’s east coast.
