Accor has inked a deal with Italian tourism operator AG Group that will see the Sofitel Genoa Waterfront open in 2027.
The hotel will feature 120 guestrooms, including 20 suites. It is being designed by the Renzo Piano Building Workshop (RPBW), led by internationally acclaimed architect Renzo Piano. Interior design will be handled by London-based studio THDP, with investment and development support from Orion and CDS Holding SpA as part of the broader Waterfront di Levante redevelopment plan.
Key amenities at Sofitel Genoa Waterfront will include a restaurant, lobby lounge bar, pool bar, spa, gym, swimming pool and two meeting rooms. Guests will also benefit from Genoa’s upgraded infrastructure, with improved high-speed rail connectivity to link Genova to Milan in only 53 minutes by 2026.
“Italy is one of Sofitel’s most important markets in Southern Europe, and the opening of Sofitel Genoa Waterfront marks a milestone in our growth strategy, after the success of Sofitel Roma Villa Borghese,” Maud Bailly, CEO of Sofitel Legend, Sofitel, MGallery and Emblems said.
“We are delighted to partner again with AG Group to bring a new icon of French Zest and luxury to Liguria region, where rich history and vibrant culture meet the Mediterranean spirit.”
The AG Group operates a wide portfolio of high-end properties. “We are proud to join forces with Accor to bring Sofitel to Genova,” Andrea Girolami, Founder and President of AG Group, said. “This project not only reinforces our commitment to luxury hospitality in Italy but also showcases our dedication to creating destinations that blend cultural heritage, world-class design, and memorable guest experiences.”
Sofitel Genoa Waterfront is set to become the city’s first “true international luxury hotel”, entering a market historically dominated by independent players.
