Marriott to significantly expand luxury all-inclusive product

The first Ritz-Carlton all-inclusive will open in 2027

Fresh off the opening of W Punta Cana, Adult All-Inclusive – the brand’s first all-inclusive resort – in August, Marriott International has plans to open numerous all-inclusive luxury hotels in the coming years.

Focused in the Caribbean and Latin America (CALA), Marriott has six planned all-inclusive resorts in the pipeline – all under its luxury brands – opening between 2026 and 2029, Kerstin Sachl, VP, Communication, Public Relations and B2B/B2C Activations, Marriott International, told media on Tuesday at ILTM North America.

Among the openings are three JW Marriotts: JW Marriott All-Inclusive Costa Elena (Costa Rica; 2026), JW All-Inclusive Costa Mujeres (Mexico; 2029) and JW Marriott All-Inclusive Maraey Rio de Janeiro (Brazil; 2029). Another W is planned – the W All-Inclusive Costa Mujeres (2029) – as well as a Luxury Collection-branded property in Punta Cana (opening in 2027).

The highlight, however, is the upcoming opening of the first all-inclusive Ritz-Carlton. Set to debut in 2027 will be The Ritz-Carlton All-Inclusive Yanuna, Punta Cana.

While there aren’t too many details about the properties just yet, we do know that even at these luxury properties, “all-inclusive” will truly be all-inclusive as we know the term to mean. While this doesn’t mean there will be endless buffets, Sachl said, all dining, drinks and on-property entertainment will be included in the nightly rate. Sachl even noted that when you’re dining and you want “the better wine,” that, too, will be included.

Services like spa treatments or private dining, on the other hand, will come at an additional cost.

Why Luxury All-Inclusive Resorts?

Sachl told media that demand for all-inclusives (in general) as grown, even among luxury travellers, who are “discovering more and more” the benefits of the segment. She specifically noted the value for families in visiting all-inclusive resorts.

She added that the success of The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection – which has an all-inclusive fare – gave Marriott the confidence that the model could work with a hotel. “Obviously, you can imagine our brand was very hesitant to determine if we should really have a Ritz-Carlton all-inclusive, but we’ve rolled out the yachts … and that concept has been so successful and so well-received—even among people who may not go on a cruise. So we said, ‘Can we replicate it on land?’”

This model also opens the doors to new travellers – perhaps not ultra-affluent travellers but the aspiring luxury traveller, who may, now, be more willing to book a Luxury Collection, JW or W hotel. In time, they may be converted into Ritz-Carlton guests, Sachl told LATTE U.S.

Good to know: While Marriott is in the process of building its luxury all-inclusive product, don’t expect any existing properties in this segment to be converted into an all-inclusive. There are certain specifications – such as the number of F&B venues or size of the pool – that are required when operating an all-inclusive hotel.
