Crete's first luxury hotel sets new opening date

INNSiDE Elounda, a brand-new 5-star lifestyle resort on the shores of northeastern Crete and part of the global portfolio of Meliá Hotels International, has set a revised opening date of 1 May 2026*.

The opening will mark the debut of the INNSiDE by Meliá brand in the Greek Islands, and introduces a fresh offering in the renowned destination of Elounda. The home of the first luxury hotel in Crete and a town with rich cultural heritage, INNSiDE invites guests to experience all the region has to offer, with a range of luxurious accommodation; personalised experiences, such as in-room yoga mats; and elevated Greek cuisine.

Just a 5-minute drive from Elounda, a charming coastal town with a picturesque harbour, it’s also only 10 minutes from the fishing village of Plaka, a notably off-the-radar beach destination where crystal clear waters lap white pebbles.

Tucked away on a hillside, with an outdoor infinity pool that gazes down onto the azure waters of Elounda Bay, the hotel is an hour’s drive from the airport and the ultimate summer holiday destination. Its idyllic setting and privacy also make it the perfect venue for weddings, private parties, and corporate escapes. There are 86 spacious rooms and suites, 70% of which boast sea views – and 18 exclusive units with private pools.

Accommodations range from stylish rooms with modern comforts to standout options such as The Loft with a private pool and terrace, and The Beach House, a 2-bedroom premium suite that also features its own private pool and sweeping sea views.

There are creative lifestyle touches throughout, such as in-room yoga mats (The Loft & The Beach House) and curated book selections (The Beach House). Sustainability is also at the heart of the experience, with eco-conscious practices evident throughout – from energy-efficient systems and eco-friendly amenities to strong support for local producers and artisans evident across the restaurants.

There are two à la carte restaurants, including Calydon, curated by renowned Greek Chef, Lefteris Soultatos. Born and raised in Heraklion, Crete, Lefteris’ professional journey began in kitchens at five-star hotels on the island, before travelling the world and working in destinations including France, Italy, Egypt, and America, developing his diverse mastery of flavours and culinary techniques. Dishes will include Greek classics with a Mediterranean twist, perfectly paired with local wines.
