Scenic Eclipse II‘s custom-built submersible, Scenic Neptune II, has completed its first dive in New Caledonia, marking an important milestone for the ultra-luxury expedition cruise vessel.

The breakthrough expedition offered guests rare below-water perspectives at Tubou Reef off Amedee Island, including views of the historic La Dieppoise shipwreck. The former wooden naval vessel now rests on the seabed, where it is surrounded by marine life, “creating an underwater moment few have experienced,” Scenic said.

Purpose-built for deep exploration, Scenic Neptune II seats up to eight guests alongside an expert pilot and can journey up to 100 metres beneath the surface. Its “near-spherical acrylic hull delivers expansive 360-degree panoramas.”

In addition to the submersible, discovery options include Zodiacs, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards as well as two onboard helicopters.

Scenic Eclipse II is currently sailing its final Oceania voyages before departing the region in March 2026, for the Mediterranean and the Baltics via the Caribbean. The cruise line said travellers still have time to secure “an all-verandah suite on board for a close-to-home journey, from East Antarctica to New Caledonia, Fiji, Norfolk Island, French Polynesia and the Marquesas Islands.”
