Anantara Kafue River Tented Camp is set to open in April 2026

Anantara has unveiled plans to open its first safari tented camp—Anantara Kafue River Tented Camp—in April 2026. Set high above the banks of the Kafue River, one of Zambia’s most vital waterways, the luxury camp will connect guests directly to Kafue National Park, the country’s largest and oldest reserve.

As the Kafue River meanders through wetlands, woodlands and savannas, it sustains one of Africa’s richest ecosystems. In deference to this delicate setting, Anantara explained, the camp is elevated to a minimum of 11.5 feet, protecting seasonal water flow and allowing wildlife to move unhindered beneath.

Eco-Chic Luxury in the Treetops

Anantara Kafue River Tented Camp will have just 10 villas (starting at 1,240 square feet) and three Horizon Terrace Suites (700 square feet) all linked by lantern‑lit paths and oriented for views of the river and surrounding bush. Accommodations are complete with sliding walls, outdoor showers and open‑air layouts to “dissolve the boundary between inside and out.” Villas come with private pools and the services of dedicated butlers.

As for wellness, all Pool Villas and Presidential Villas have dedicated wellness spaces that take advantage of the sounds from the river below. Guests can also utilize the full-size swimming pool, partake in guided yoga sessions and workout in the gym.

Dining Rooted in African Tradition

The signature restaurant, set beneath a canopy of trees, pairs oven-fresh pastries, local fruit and hearty breakfast favorites with uninterrupted water views. For later meals, contemporary interpretations of African classics are made with seasonal, sustainably sourced produce.

The resort is also home to a lounge for afternoon tea or a cigar, along with a fireside gathering place that pays homage to a traditional African boma—suited for storytelling, traditional performances and toasting marshmallows. Tip: As part of Anantara’s signature Designer Dining experience, private bush dinners can be arranged under the stars.

Bespoke Safari Experiences

In Kafue National Park, expert trackers tailor each expedition to the season and to travelers’ interests—from nighttime safaris to luxury camping and riverbank picnics. Guests can explore by water to places unreachable by road aboard the camp’s private riverboats. Expect crocodile, hippo and even otter sightings. Other water-based activities include canoeing and fishing.

On land, guided game drives offer the chance to see lions, elephants, antelopes, buffaloes and more than 500 species of bird.
