Marking nearly a year since its soft launch in December 2024, Regent Bali Canggu has officially opened, equipped with strong guest feedback and a confident outlook for the future.

Speaking to LATTE at Further East in Bali earlier this month, Director of Sales & Marketing Nicolas Laufrais said the property has been “quietly” welcoming guests over the last year. “We have been gradually ramping things up because we in very luxury properties like this, you need to build trust, and you need also to make sure that the team is following up,” he explained.

The first Regent property in Indonesia, the hotel features the world’s first Regent Spa and six distinctive dining options, as well as 150 oceanside rooms and suites (many with sea or garden vistas and direct lagoon access). In addition, there is a 618 sqm beachfront penthouse with its own infinity pool and “Personal Havens” – tech‑enabled guest spaces where everything from scent to sound, food to lighting can be tailored to individual preference.

The result is a unique sensory experience that reflects both luxury and the local setting, according to Laufrais. “Our concept is a journey for the senses,” he said.

The hotel draws on natural materials, with wood and stone dominating, along with design touches like green marble for contrast and silver or gold to lift the overall effect. “You have always a neutral base which is very natural, very organic, then you have a touch of contrast, and the last 10% should be just a touch of stimulation,” Laufrais explained, highlighting the property’s signature wooden bathtubs.

These reflections of the global brand’s wider aesthetic align with Regent’s ambition to combine local heritage and contemporary luxury across all properties.

Cultural immersion is therefore another pillar of the Canggu experience. Guests are invited to participate in local traditions and ceremonies, from traditional craft workshops to weekly rituals. “We have different activities. Every week, we have a ceremony from our temple to the ocean and we invite our guests to either observe or participate in the ceremony as well,” Laufrais said.

Culinary experiences are equally immersive: the resort’s main restaurant highlights Indonesian cuisine, presented in a sharing style that channels Bali’s culinary heritage. “This property is really for the curious mind, for people who like to explore the food scene, for young spirits,” Laufrais reflected.
