Black Sand Hotel, touted as the first and only beachfront boutique hotel in Iceland, will open its doors in January 2026. Nested on a peninsula in the Ölfus region, nearby Reykjavik, the hotel will offer 70 guestrooms and nine suites.

In the accommodations, minimalist interiors are emphasized with natural materials, soft textures and a restrained palette. Rooms and suites also have wide windows that frame the black volcanic beach, the North Atlantic and Ölfusá River, and the surrounding mountains. The nine suites—ranging from the 430-square-foot Junior Suites to the 785-square-meter Signature Suite—offer additional amenities, including separate living and dining areas.

Additionally, Black Sand Hotel will be the first fully furnished DUX hotel in Iceland, with the luxury Swedish furniture house outfitting the public areas, restaurant and accommodations with bespoke pieces.

ÓMUR, the hotel’s signature, 80-seat, seasonally driven restaurant, will offer a daily breakfast buffet as well as a nightly dinner menu that will celebrate Nordic cuisine. As well, ÓMUR Bar will offer bespoke cocktails, a curated selection of spirits and seasonal small plates.

Black Sand Hotel’s intimate spa will overlook the black volcanic sand and feature signature products from [ comfort zone ]. Facilities include a sauna, steam room, geothermal hot tubs, cold plunge, treatment room, and yoga room. Additionally, gym kits from Gympack will be available on demand, allowing guests the convenience and flexibility of in-room workout equipment.
