About the distinctions: The One, Two and Three Michelin Stars identify establishments serving exceptional cuisine that’s rich in flavor, remarkably executed and infused with the personality of a talented chef. The Bib Gourmand is a designation given to select restaurants that offer good quality food for a good value—often known as personal favorites among the inspectors when dining on their own time.
The Michelin Green Star honors restaurants that are pioneers in sustainable gastronomy. Recommended restaurants and special professional awards are also highlighted by the Michelin Guide inspectors.
“Hosting the Michelin Guide Ceremony is a major win for Philadelphia, providing global culinary recognition while driving increased visitor demand and new business for the city,” said Gregg Caren, president and CEO of the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau (PHLCVB). “Our responsibility is to attract travelers from around the world for major events and overnight stays and food tourism continues to factor large in trip planning.”
In May 2025, the PHLCVB announced a multi-year partnership with the Michelin Guide that would allow Philadelphia’s restaurants and chefs to be considered for inclusion in the renowned global dining guidebook. As a result of that partnership, the Michelin Guide announced that Philadelphia would be added to the Northeast Cities alongside Boston, Chicago, New York City, and Washington, D.C.
