New app looks to power travel advisors through influencers

Globe Thrivers aims to bridge the gap between influencers and advisors

A new platform, Globe Thrivers, is looking to bridge the gap between influencers and luxury travel advisors. The app, which launched this month in beta, combines artificial intelligence with real traveler insights to unite travelers, creators and travel advisors in one connected community.

With the app, travelers can save their “travel inspo”—pulled from TikToks, Instagram Reels, blogs or in-app favorites—to their profile. The in-app AI will customize an itinerary based on your saved travel inspo as well as expert and community recommendations. Users can stop there or they can go one step further and connect with a travel advisor within the app to actually book the itinerary.

So, for instance, a user can see a TikTok or Reel posted by a travel influencer; they can then save that content in the Globe Thrivers app, which can then customize an itinerary via AI and/or connect that user to an advisor who specializes in that type of trip content (i.e., Paris).

“Globe Thrivers is the first travel app that takes you from inspiration to personalized, bookable itineraries in minutes, powered by creators and AI,” said Shir Ibgui, founder and CEO of Globe Thrivers, in a conversation with LATTE U.S.

“Travel has two types of creators—influencers and advisors—and they’re two very critical pieces to the industry, because one inspires and the other one takes the inspiration and makes that into a reality.” The Globe Thrivers app aims to fill the void that’s existed between these two parts of the planning process.

Ibgui added that while social commerce has transformed the retail, fashion and beauty industries, travel has lagged. She noted that social commerce—across retail, fashion and beauty—are projected to exceed $1.2 trillion globally this year or next.

She added that the app is intended to benefit all parties. On the user side, it makes the travel inspiration and planning process easier, by creating one platform to save and organize (into proper itineraries) all their inspiration. Influencers and content creators can monetize their “lists” (saved itineraries, experiences and the like on their profile). Travel advisors will benefit from the content already created by the influencers: so when a user sees something they like, they can save it and get connected with an advisor to book the trip.

“Influencers are able to build their profiles and treat it as their storefront,” Ibgui explained, adding, that advisors “are able to get qualified, pre-scoped leads that see their platform, that see the content they post and [are] able to convert that into a client right away.”

“Whether anyone wants to admit it or not, social media is intrinsically connected to the trip planning process,” so why not lean into that, Ibgui said.

Globe Thrivers, according to Ibgui, also allows both advisors and creators to be paid. By signing up for the app, they agree to a commission split, where creators are paid when users are inspired by their content and advisors are paid for creating and booking the itinerary. (Ibgui noted that “obviously, the advisors are planning [the trip], so they get a bigger margin.”)

Beyond the features mentioned above, the Globe Thrivers app offers:

  • A community feed of travel stories and tips
  • Group planning and in-app collaboration tools
  • Optional premium upgrades with the gt+ paid membership program, which comes with free luggage insurance, 1-to-1 stylist sessions, personalized travel perks and more

Currently, Globe Thrivers is available online and through the IOS App Store. It is free to use but the gt+ membership program is priced at $299 per year (with a launch discount of $99 per year).
