A new mountain hotel and residences at the foot of Japan’s Mount Myoko will join the Six Senses portfolio, it has been confirmed.
This new development, Six Senses Myoko, will be located near the slopes of the scenic Myoko Suginohara Ski Resort in Myoko Kogen, an area known for its high-quality snow, natural hot springs and picturesque scenery.
It marks the first collaboration between IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG) and Patience Capital Group (PCG). It will be located near the slopes of the scenic Myoko Suginohara Ski Resort in Myoko Kogen, an area known for its high-quality snow, natural hot springs and picturesque scenery.
The project aims to create a year-round lifestyle destination. “Myoko Kogen is one of Japan’s oldest ski areas, offering an easily accessible and perfect blend of adventurous experiences, deep culture and stunning natural beauty,” said Neil Palmer, COO of Six Senses.
“Through our partnership with PCG, Six Senses Myoko will breathe new life into this historic destination, transforming it into a setting for diverse and fresh experiences throughout the four seasons.”

The development will feature 57 guest rooms and suites, many with private hot spring experiences, alongside 21 Six Senses branded residences on the upper floors. Guests and residents will enjoy sweeping views of Myoko Kogen’s snowy landscape, which receives an average annual snowfall of 13.4 metres. The ski area encompasses 90 hectares, including one of Japan’s longest runs, measuring 8.5 kilometres, and one of the largest downhill runs, with an elevation difference of 1,124 metres.
Six Senses Myoko will offer two restaurants and a bar serving seasonal menus, a boutique with personalised fitting services, and a vibrant mountain village with flagship stores, dining options, wellness experiences and art programs. The facility’s architecture, guided by Kengo Kuma and Kume Sekkei, follows the concept of “restoring the lost landscape of the foothills and restoring a topography in harmony with nature.”
Wellness is central to the Six Senses experience, with a spa featuring eight treatment rooms, hydrotherapy, and private hot springs by reservation.
“We are passionate about developing Myoko Kogen as a world-class mountain retreat, while celebrating its rich natural environment and cultural heritage,” Ken Chan, Founder, CEO and CIO of PCG, said. “Our partnership with IHG Hotels & Resorts to introduce the one-of-a-kind Six Senses Myoko marks a major milestone in this journey.”
Construction is scheduled to begin in April 2026.
