A two-storey Tower Suite will be added to Disney Cruise LinesDisney Fantasy as it undergoes work at the Damen Shiprepair yard in Brest, France.

The addition of the suite brings the vessel in line with the other Disney ships, with the 2,030-square-foot stateroom to occupy the area formerly held by the Outlook Bar and the Radio Studio, with its design inspired by the 1940 Disney classic Fantasia.

Bookings for the new suite opened in April, following the introduction of a Tower Suite aboard Disney Dream during its 2024 drydock.

Meanwhile, French publication Le Télégramme revealed that a 180-tonne bulbous bow was installed on the vessel earlier this month, with the project supervised by German technicians. Its tapered design aims to improve the ship’s fuel efficiency.

The drydock is drawing on the efforts of close to 4,000 people, including Damen teams, subcontractors and crew. In addition, more than 700 trucks were reportedly tasked with delivering materials for the ship, which arrived in 100 containers.

As part of the overhaul, Disney Fantasy will also have a new silicone coating applied to its hull, to minimise friction. Inside, around 40 kilometres of carpet are also being replaced with updates to other fixtures and fittings.

The vessel is scheduled to return to service on 28 October, when it will sail a transatlantic voyage to North America, arriving back at its Port Canaveral homeport in mid-November to resume its regular programming of short cruise to the Caribbean and Bahamas.
