Celebrity Cruises’ inaugural season of river vacations has sold out, just five hours after the final wave of inventory opened to the public. The release included seven-night itineraries that sail from the Budapest to Bavaria.
The sell-out followed “unprecedented demand for Priority Booking Access,” according to the cruise line.
Laura Hodges Bethge, president of Celebrity Cruises, reported that these priority bookings sold out in just six minutes when they opened in September.
Celebrity River Cruises, the brand said, is a natural extension of its premium oceangoing offering. Guests can expect river ships “that blend the elevated design and sophistication of Edge Series ocean ships with European charm.”

What does this mean? Celebrity River Cruises will set sail with an innovative hull, delivering a lightweight and versatile design that improves river navigation. Open decks will allow for the most usable outdoor space of any river ship, offering 360-degree views. These outdoor spaces will be complete with “transformative shade structures,” plenty of furniture and a top-deck bar and grille.
A highlight will be the Magic Edge—cantilevered dining pods that offer guests the chance to dine above the river while enjoying destination-driven dishes. There will also be an infinity-edge plunge pool.
The ships—Celebrity Compass and Celebrity Seeker, both setting sail in late 2027—will have five stateroom categories with a residential-inspired interior design, king-sized beds, and “the most in-room amenities on the river.”

Guests will also have the choice of eight restaurants and bars onboard. Among these will be Celebrity-favourites like Martini Bar, Sunset Bar and Café Al Bacio.
During its inaugural season, Celebrity River Cruises will offer 33 seven-night sailings on the Rhine and Danube. Ports of call will include the likes of Linz, the Wachau Valley and Vienna, Austria; Gonyu, Hungary; Bratislava, Slovakia; and Passau and Nuremberg, Germany.
