Cap Karoso, Sumba, hosted a group of Personal Travel Managers (PTMs) on a three-day famil ahead of TravelManagers’ annual conference, this year held in Bali.

Hosted by Cap Karoso’s Aristo Wibisono, along with Anouck de Monts and Craig Farrell from the hotels Australian representative, La Collection, the PTMs experienced the best of the resorts famed culinary offering, and took part in many of the activities on offer to guests.

The group explored a traditional local village, swam at the pristine Weekuri Lagoon, and enjoyed a snorkelling trip on board the resorts private boat.

Cap Karoso has gained an international reputation for it’s cuisine since fully opening in July 2024.

The PTMs experienced the all day dining at the Beach Club, as well as dinners on Karoso Beach, and Apacine – an Indonesian restaurant centred around the vibrant influences from the East of the archipelago.

And a highlight of any trip to Sumba is dining at Julang – the exclusive fine-dining restaurant at Cap Karoso, known for its unique guest chef residency program. Instead of having a permanent chef, Julang invites renowned culinary talents, including Michelin-starred and emerging chefs, to create special menus for limited periods.

One of the surprising highlights for the group was a tour of Cap Karoso’s three hectare biological farm which provides fresh, diverse and traceable ingredients for the property’s restaurants. The farm also hosts a training program in landscaping and farming skills that often lack in Sumba and many parts of Indonesia. Any interested locals can learn about plant propagation, nursery skills, plant care, garden maintenance, organic farming and permaculture.

To top off four days of indulgence and exploration, TravelManagers’ Claire Crosby, Carli Byrne, Jodie Payne, Ally Casey, Merrilyn Priest & Karen Whitehead, all enjoyed a reflexology massage, one of the many treatments on offer at Malala Spa.
