An 18-month celebration will kick off in November to mark the 150th anniversary of the Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok, under the theme Unfolding Legacies.

The hotel, which opened in 1876 as The Oriental, Bangkok, was the Kingdom of Siam’s first luxury hotel. Mandarin Oriental acquired a partial stake in the hotel in 1974, a move that followed its 1963 acquisition of its other flagship property, The Mandarin in Hong Kong. These two deals ultimately led to the formation of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group brand.

“It is a profound honour to lead Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok through this defining chapter,” said Anthony Tyler, General Manager and Area Vice President, Operations.Unfolding Legacies is both a tribute to our extraordinary journey and a bold step into the future.”

Running from November 2025 to March 2027, the celebration will feature a diverse program of experiences.

Central to the celebration is Celebration Chapters, a storytelling journey brought to life through six themes: Legacy, People, Service, Culture, Craft, and Innovation. Each chapter will be brought to life through a series of activation pillars across culinary, wellness, rituals, collaborations and more, with new experiences unveiled throughout the 18-month campaign.

The festivities will begin with an Opening Luncheon and Gala Dinner on 22 November 2025. A highlight of the Gala Dinner will be a culinary showcase by the Club des Chefs des Chefs, known for uniting personal chefs of world leaders “from the Élysée Palace to the White House.” Guests will enjoy ceremonial dishes and state recipes once served to global rulers.
