Tennis icon Roger Federer and Hollywood star Halle Berry have joined forces in a new short film celebrating Switzerland’s autumn.
Shot amid the picturesque scenery of Lake Lucerne and other stunning locations, the film represents the fifth creative collaboration between Federer and Switzerland Tourism.
In this light-hearted film, Federer invites Oscar-winning actress Berry to experience the magic of Swiss autumn.
“The film showcases the strengths of spending autumn in Switzerland: longer, higher-quality stays and more mindful travel – the essence of Travel Better,” André Hefti, Chief Marketing Officer at Switzerland Tourism, said.
Entitled Beautiful Autumn, the short film was directed by German/Swiss filmmaker Marc Forster and created specifically for audiences in Switzerland Tourism’s key international markets, including Australia, the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, India, South-East Asia and Japan.
The short blends interviews with Federer and scenes set in iconic Swiss transport modes — a panoramic cable car, a vintage postbus and a boat — all capturing the country’s natural splendour in autumn.
Data supports the rise of autumn as a key travel season. Between 2019 and 2024, hotel overnight stays in Switzerland from September to November increased by 10.3%, outpacing overall annual growth.
Mountain regions like Graubünden and Valais saw especially strong gains, with increases of 8.2% and 8.5% respectively. While domestic travellers lead the trend, international visits are also rising – especially from the United States, which saw a 34.8% jump in overnight stays (+213,005).
To support this vision of “Travel Better, stay longer,” Switzerland Tourism has partnered with Travel Switzerland to promote the Swiss Travel Pass. This exclusive ticket allows international visitors to travel “comfortably and without limits” in first class across Switzerland’s public transport network.
